On Tuesday, we opened the New York club. I started the club to drink with three dear friends who couldn’t make it to the other two clubs in New Jersey—too far away, etc. This happened when one of the whiskey club members, who lives in New York and picked up a bottle from my office (near Times Square), asked me why I don’t host meetings there. Indeed, why not?
I asked Joshua Hatton to come and open the club with the same lineup that dazzled the club in Jersey. It was amazing!! I was surprised by the number of people who showed up, and I was especially excited about Nathan 🙂, who joined us from Israel and brought his whole family along 🙌
I already mentioned the lineup in the previous visit, but for me, it was a fantastic experience to taste everything again and check myself once more. We tasted:
- Linkwood 13
- Ardnamurchan 5
- Dailuaine 13
- Ardmore 25
- Caol Ila 8
- Passover Rum 🙂
Once again, my favorite was the Ardnamurchan. It had both sweetness and some funk or spice to it. Someone in the tasting said it reminded them of ‘Bissli Grill.’ It was pure fun. What more do you need??
The event was a perfect showcase of the diverse and unique offerings from Independent Bottler Single Cask Nation. Each bottle had its distinct character, reflecting the meticulous curation by Joshua Hatton and his team. The Ardnamurchan, with its balance of sweet and spicy notes, stood out once more, proving its complexity and charm.
Such gatherings are not just about tasting fine whiskey but also about building connections and sharing memorable experiences. The New York club’s opening was a testament to the growing community of whiskey enthusiasts eager to explore and appreciate the nuances of independent bottlings. Looking forward to many more such delightful sessions in the heart of New York City!
